Cashed up and ready to buy more power plants!

If you haven't guessed by now, Cynthia and I play a lot of boardgames. It's one of our new hobbies that we picked up since the kids arrived, mainly because at night after the kids are asleep and the housework is done (or at least reasonably done), we get all this free time that we need to spend at home. From a couple of boardgames, our collection of games have expanded to over 40 games by now.

We're lucky that Melbourne has a budding community of boardgame clubs and boardgamers who organise official events where families can get together and try out new games. One of these events is "Convic" which we attended today with Evan in tow. JoJo spent the day at her godparents' place while Evan slept most of the time in his pram as we both tried out a boardgame called "Power Grid". In this game, we purchase power plants, build power networks across the country and try to light up as many cities as we can to earn more cash to buy more power plants. There were 6 players (including us) and Cynthia almost won had she not miscalculated and ended up with $1 less than what she needed. All in all, it was a very exciting game.

We'll definately try to make another family games event. Hopefully by then, JoJo would be old enough to start playing a few games herself.
