Silly Daddy?

I'd stopped by the grocer with the kids to pick up some things. Of course, the kids wanted some goodies (in this case, some Yan-Yan biscuits) and I said okay, but they could have it only after dinner. Evan didn't take this too well, and started whinging in the car.

After some repeated back-and-forth of "I want Yan-Yan now!!" and "Only after dinner!", I finally tried something different.

KK: (big sigh) "Daddy's so silly, kids. I should have not let you buy the Yan-Yan biscuits. You see, now Evan is upset because he can't have them straight away. Daddy should have been clever and just said "No biscuits!" when we were in the shop. Then Evan wouldn't be crying now."

(I let them think on that for a while)

KK: Evan, do you think Daddy was silly or clever?

(No sound from Evan, so I asked Jojo)

KK: How about you, Jojo? Do you think Daddy was silly or clever?

Jojo: (hesitantly) Um, daddy, I don't know how to answer without hurting your feelings...
