"Bula!" from Fiji

10 days in Fiji sounds like a piece of heaven, and you know what? It really is. Great beaches, lovely sun (accompanied daily by tropical rain!), friendly people, Fiji really is a great holiday destination.

The kids are having a blast; the first thing they learnt here was how to say Hello in Fijian, which is Bula! You can hardly get around here without hearing Bula! from the locals at every opportunity. We went to a river bank the other day, and were greeted by screams of Bula!!! from a group of local kids swimming in the middle of the river. Our kids have learnt to chorus Bula! to everyone they meet, much to the locals delight.

This is the first time we've let the kids join a Kids Club, and I must say that the club in Shangrila is really good. Jojo and Evan actually request to go to the club. Jojo especially likes the night program where they play games at 7pm, and watch a movie afterwards. She has already befriended several other girls, and waits impatiently while we eat dinner so that we can drop her off at the club afterwards. She won a Limbo Rock contest last night, and got a prize t-shirt. We realized last night that our daughter is getting used to going out after dinner to have fun with friends. Too early for a 6 year old? We'll see once we get back to the old Melbourne routine!
