Look, a giant avocado!

After a yum cha for brekky at Top One Restaurant in Southport (supposedly the best one for yum cha in Gold Coast), we thought we'll give Tropical Fruit World a whirl. An hour's drive into the Tweed Heads area, this fruit farm is definitely a highlight of the trip for the family. It was wonderful to see the countless avocados hanging off a tree. They were selling avocados AUD7 a bucket.

A tractor ride brought us around the farm. We stopped at a Macadamia tree to eat the fresh macadamia nuts. They have a number of tropical favourites which we are familiar with in Malaysia like jackfruit, mangosteen, cikus and langsat. The farm tried their hand on growing durian trees but due to the cooler climate, the durians did not grow well.

At the end of the tour, we had a fruit tasting session which we all enjoyed except for little Evan who does not like fruits. We are yet to successfully make him like fruits. Apparently, Evan has similar tastebuds like KK when he was a kid. KK loves fruits now...so there's hope for my little Ev!
